French Parliament Calls for Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan to Be Designated as a Terrorist Organization
Al-Tanwir Agencies
The French Parliament approved a draft resolution calling for the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan to be added to the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations, paving the way for French diplomatic efforts within EU institutions to gather support for the designation.
The resolution grants the French government political authorization to present the issue to the Council of the European Union and encourage member states to adopt a unified position to include the group and its affiliated entities on the EU terrorism list.
The decision is based on security and political considerations that view the group as a long-term threat to stability, accusing it of promoting extremist ideologies and operating through transnational networks. If adopted by the EU, the designation could lead to measures such as freezing financial assets, imposing travel restrictions on leaders, and tightening oversight of activities linked to the group.
